Serendipity

I’ve always believed things happen for a reason. Call it fate, destiny, kismet or serendipity. In my life, at least, nothing has ever seemed random. That’s not to say I haven’t felt I’ve exercised plenty of free will. Its just that when I have, wonderful, interesting, joyous, even miraculous things have happened.

For example, I arrived in Paris on Tuesday and checked into my hotel, a small boutique place in the Marais. After checking out the room, I settled into a comfy chair in the lobby to take advantage of the free WiFi access. Engrossed in my email, it took me a moment to realize someone was saying my name - and not just anyone, but my friend Marni, who had just herself checked into the very same hotel for a business trip to Paris. Serendipity!

Marni has been living in Cologne this past year and I had already made plans to meet her in London in October, but what an amazing surprise and pleasure to be able to spend my first two evenings in Paris with her!

So I think I’ll keep letting the Universe know I’m open to whatever it has in store for me and hope it will send me more serendipity.
